Jewelry literally and figuratively adds shine to your life. Unfortunately, precious metals and gemstones can become dull over time. Damage and discoloration can also occur. Only if you take good care of your jewelry, the precious shine will remain

So don't ramble, just brush. Brunott is happy to help you with this, and shares a number of valuable tips and tricks in the field of jewelry maintenance.

To keep your jewelry in optimal condition, regular cleaning and cleaning is an advantage. You can easily do this at home by using our professional cleaning products. If you want to be sure of the right cleaning products and techniques, we will of course be happy to take care of the maintenance of your jewelry!

It is advisable to remove all types of jewelry while sleeping, exercising, swimming, sunbathing and cleaning, and store them in a separate box. Silver jewelery and jewelery with precious stones should ideally be kept closed and only put on after applying care products and make-up.

MAINTAINING SILVER JEWELRY

Why is my silver jewelery turning gray or black? A question we often get as a jeweler. Where many people think that there is something wrong with the authenticity of the jewel, that discoloration is a sign that it is a real silver jewel. The tarnish is a natural reaction of silver to oxygen and the acidity of your skin, also known as oxidation. The speed at which this inescapable process occurs depends on several factors, including any medication use by the wearer. Because certain drugs increase the pH value of the skin, the silver discolors more quickly.

Silver jewelry can be easily cleaned with a silver polishing cloth. Depending on the degree of oxidation, this will not always produce the desired result. In that case, we can clean your silver jewelery in an ultrasonic bath and polish it until it shines as if it had never been worn before!

MAINTAINING GOLD JEWELRY

Jewelry made of gold requires less polishing and polishing than jewelry made of silver. However, dirt and grease can also accumulate on gold jewelry, causing the precious metal to lose its shine. Dull gold can be restored by polishing it with a cloth or soft toothbrush moistened in lukewarm soapy water with green soap.

MAINTAINING PLATINUM JEWELRY

Platinum jewelry is virtually indestructible. It is therefore not without reason that this durable, rare and pure precious metal is often chosen for engagement and wedding rings. Grease and dirt on platinum can be removed with a cloth or soft toothbrush. In addition to polishing, Brunott is happy to take care of your platinum jewelry. If desired, we can completely restore the original shine of dull platinum jewelry!

MAINTAINING JEWELRY WITH GEMSTONES

Not only precious metals, gemstones also need care now and then. Most colored stones can be safely cleaned with lukewarm soapy water, a mild detergent and a soft brush. Porous colored stones (such as turquoise, malachite and lapis lazuli) tend to absorb chemicals and moisture, so brushing with a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Do you have a piece of jewelry with an opal? Then avoid bright light, heat, ammonia and ultrasonic cleaners and gently polish the stone with a dry cloth.

Are you in doubt about the hardness of the stone and the associated maintenance method? You can always contact Brunott with questions about cleaning your jewelry with precious stones.

MAINTAINING DIAMONDS JEWELRY

Even the almost indestructible, powerful diamond can lose its shine. Fortunately, the irresistible sparkle can be easily restored by regularly soaking the diamond jewelry in a solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent.

You can of course also opt for a professional cleaning at Brunott. We restore the original shine of the diamond and immediately check the jewelry for wear or loose settings.
