Tissot, opgericht in 1853 in Le Locle, Zwitserland, door het vader-zoon duo Charles-Felicien Tissot en Charles-Emile Tissot, begon met het vervaardigen van gouden zakhorloges. Het merk wist al snel internationale bekendheid te verwerven, vooral in Rusland waar hun horloges populair waren aan het Tsar's hof.
