The Seiko Prospex SNJ039P1, also known as the "Tropical Lagoon" Special Edition, is a striking diving watch that takes its inspiration from the vibrant colors of a tropical lagoon. This model is part of Seiko's Prospex series, known for its professional specifications and robust design.
The watch immediately stands out for its unique color combination. The uni-directional rotating bezel has a special color scheme: the first fifteen minutes are marked in emerald green, while the rest of the bezel is navy blue. This color scheme, reminiscent of life in tropical oceans, is further highlighted by the blue silicone strap and green minute hand.
The watch's case is a combination of stainless steel and plastic, providing durability and a lightweight feel. The matte black finish puts a modern spin on the classic design of the iconic 1982 H558-5000, also known as the "Arnie." With a diameter of 47.8 mm, a thickness of 13.8 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 50.5 mm, this watch is ideal for larger wrists. Despite its robust appearance, it weighs only 114 grams, contributing to a comfortable wearing experience.
The watch is powered by Seiko's solar quartz Caliber H851, which harnesses light energy, eliminating the need for battery changes. When fully charged, the watch has a power reserve of about six months. It offers a chronograph that measures up to 100 hours in 1/102-second intervals, as well as a daily alarm function and a fully automatic calendar that remains correct until Dec. 31, 2100. The combination of analog and digital displays shows the time, date, dual time and power reserve, and is protected by a Hardlex crystal.
In terms of durability, the SNJ039P1 is superbly equipped. It is water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet) and meets ISO standards for diving. In addition, the screw-down crown, push buttons and case bottom provide additional water resistance. The watch also features Lumibrite on the hands, indexes and bezel, which provides enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
The Seiko Prospex SNJ039P1 is not just another watch, but a reliable companion for adventurers and diving enthusiasts. The combination of advanced functionality, striking design and durable construction makes it a standout piece in the Prospex line
Seiko, founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, has an impressive history dating back to the beginning of the modern era in Japan. The founder started out as a watchmaker in Tokyo and quickly became a pioneer in the watchmaking industry. The company produced its first clock in 1892 and Japan's first wristwatch in 1913, showing Seiko's commitment to innovation early on.
Over the following decades, Seiko grew into a globally respected watch brand with a series of groundbreaking achievements. In 1969, Seiko introduced the world's first quartz watch, the Astron, setting standards for precision and technological advancement. In the years that followed, Seiko launched other remarkable technologies, such as the Spring Drive mechanism, and developed several collections that are both technically advanced and aesthetically appealing. With more than a century of innovation and craftsmanship, Seiko remains an icon in the watchmaking industry, bringing together the past and the present in an impressive legacy of timekeeping.
The Seiko Prospex collection is the choice for adventurous spirits. Designed for diving, mountain climbing and other challenging environments, Prospex watches offer unmatched durability and functionality. With features such as deep water resistance, special diving bezels and luminescent markings, they are essential for professional divers and explorers. Seiko Prospex is the reliable companion for extreme adventures, both underwater and on land.
