The 5M83 Seiko caliber with day-date display is a Kinetic caliber. A Seiko Kinetic watch converts the arm and wrist movements of its wearer into energy. This energy is stored in a very small rechargeable battery that lasts many times longer than conventional batteries. When the watch is fully charged, it has an energy reserve of approximately 6 months. The 5M83 Kinetic caliber has an energy reserve indicator that shows how much energy the watch has left. The watch also gives a warning when the energy is low. The timepiece is protected against overcharging.
