SEIKO PROSPEX 1965/1970 Diver ’s --Moderne Herinterpretatie

Since Seiko's first diver's watch was introduced in 1965, the company has continuously pushed the boundaries of what diver's watches can withstand and perform. In 2021, Seiko Prospex will introduce two modern reinterpretations of legendary watches from 1965 and 1970. Both new models feature special fabric straps specifically designed and manufactured for use in seawater. The two watches offer the perfect balance between design and functionality. They embody the innovative vision behind every design of Seiko diver's watches.

Design

Both new versions share the same design and specifications as the modern reinterpretations from 1965 and 1970 introduced last year to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Seiko's first diver's watch. The brown dial and bezel (reinterpretation 1965) and the gray textured dial (reinterpretation 1970) harmonize perfectly with the earthy tones of their Seichu bands.

The diver's watch from 1965

Seiko's first diver's watch in 1965 featured an automatic mechanical caliber and offered a Water Resistance of 150 meters. The watch is designed for maximum reliability and optimal readability under the toughest conditions. It proved itself during expeditions to Antarctica in the 1960s, among other things, and it was the founder of the development of future groundbreaking diver's watches.

fabric strap

The fabric straps are made with a traditional Japanese braiding technique called Seichu. Seichu weave is known in Japanese culture for its rich texture and color tones, as can be seen, for example, in a traditional 'obijime', the decorative band of a kimono. In addition to their unique Japanese aesthetics and texture, these new watch straps have a tensile strength nearly four times that of regular Seiko fabric straps*. Their strength and high resistance to wear and tear caused by sun and sea meet the high standards of Seiko's diver's watches. In addition, thanks to the unique braiding pattern, the straps have a flexibility and air permeability that guarantees maximum wearing comfort. *Based on research conducted by Seiko.

The metal parts of the strap construction have a strong and solid shape that matches the Diver's look of these contemporary creations.

Kaliber 6R35

The 6R35 Seiko caliber with date display is a mechanical caliber. The watch automatically charges itself when worn by converting the wearer's arm and wrist movements into energy. Movement of the watch causes the mainspring of the watch to be wound. This spring is the energy source. Manual winding of the timepiece is also possible. When the watch is fully charged, the watch has a power reserve of no less than 70 hours. The tick number of this automatic is 21,600 per hour and the watch has 24 jewels. The 6R caliber is completely manufactured in Seiko's factory.
