In 1986, Seiko launched a diver's watch that set a new standard. The legendary design combined the 1975 case that offered 1000 meters of Water Resistance - making the watch suitable for saturation diving - with a quartz movement that delivered an accuracy that no mechanical diver's watch could match. 35 years ago, the 1986 Quartz Diver's immediately recognized as one of Seiko's most important diver's watches. And now in 2021, this Seiko diving classic will be reborn, of course with new design features and contemporary specifications of the highest professional level. The result is a watch that more than lives up to the name Prospex - which stands for professional specifications. The watch will be available in a limited edition of 1,200 at select Seiko Boutiques and retail partners worldwide from July 2021.

The new Seiko Prospex 1986 Quartz Diver's 35th Anniversary Limited Edition inherited all the essential design features and innovations of both the 1975 mechanical model and the 1986 quartz original. It offers the 1000m Water Resistance and helium resistance required for saturation diving. The watch has a unique two-piece case construction. This case is made of titanium and has an extra protective outer case made of zirconia ceramic around it. This material is seven times harder than steel, which makes the case's shock resistance even greater. The watch is also equipped with the special "accordion strap" that ensures that the watch continues to fit perfectly on the wrist at any depth. This high-quality silicone band is extremely strong yet flexible.

As a new safety and design feature, the crown is marked with a vibrant yellow "Lock" sign, and an arrow to indicate the direction of rotation. This makes it easier for the wearer to see if the crown is unlocked. The white hour markers contrast strongly with the dial, making them easy to read even at greater depths.

Band

The watch is offered with extra strong silicone straps in both black and blue-grey. These straps make it possible to wear the watch on a wetsuit as well as directly on the wrist. Each band bears the text in yellow ‚ "FOR SATURATION DIVING 1000m"

The watch is equipped with Seiko's proven 7C46 quartz caliber, which is powerful enough to move the wide and robust hands. The hands are richly finished with LumiBrite for maximum legibility. The timepiece also offers a reassuringly long battery life of 5 years.
