De Limited Edition Seiko SLA061J1 Black Series

The Limited Edition (only 1000 pieces worldwide) of the Seiko SLA061J1 Black Series is a true companion when diving. Night diving is a great way to experience the underwater world completely different than during the day. Many divers are fascinated by the mysterious atmosphere of the ocean that the nights bring.

Night diving is therefore a popular leisure activity all over the world. In addition to the SLA061J1 Black Series, Seiko Prospex brings three other new special Black Series diving watches. The SPB253J1, SPB255J1 and SPB257J1 are all four specially designed to be worn during night diving.

The fame of the watch

This watch is mainly known for two things. It appeared in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now, carried by Captain Willard, one of the protagonists of the film, played by Martin Sheen.

The watch was also heavily tested by explorer Naomi Uemura, a hugely popular Japanese adventurer highly regarded for his personal achievements. For example, he wore the watch when he became the first man in the world to climb the highest peaks of all five continents. He also wore this watch during his journey from Greenland to Alaska, a journey of 12,000 km that lasted 18 months.

The dial of the Seiko SLA061J1 Black Series reminds you of the darkness and silence of the nighttime ocean. The black case subtly refers to the darkness underwater. The hour markers and hands are finished with lumibright to ensure the best possible visibility even in the darkest of places.

The Prospex series contains many recognizable and often iconic designs. Seiko is increasingly embracing its historical heritage. The new Seiko Black Series (SPB253J1, SPB255J1, SPB257J1 and SLA061J1) are derived from several classic Seiko diving watches from the 1960s and 1970s.

Caliber 8L35

Caliber 8L35 with date display is a mechanical caliber made in Seiko's own factories. As a result, the watch is automatically charged during wear by converting the movements of the wearer's arms and wrists into energy.

Movement of the springs causes the watch to be wound. Manual winding of the timepiece is also possible. When the watch is fully charged, the watch's power reserve will be over 50 hours.
