Tissot, opgericht in 1853 in Le Locle, Zwitserland, door het vader-zoon duo Charles-Felicien Tissot en Charles-Emile Tissot, begon met het vervaardigen van gouden zakhorloges. Het merk wist al snel internationale bekendheid te verwerven, vooral in Rusland waar hun horloges populair waren aan het Tsar's hof. Tissot staat bekend om zijn innovaties in de horloge-industrie; het introduceerde het eerste antimagnetische horloge in 1930 en het eerste touchscreen horloge in 1999.
