The New Standard

Oris is a well-known watch brand that has its origins in Switzerland. It was founded in 1904 by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian in the town of Hölstein. In the beginning, Oris produced pocket watches using mechanical movements.

During the 1920s and 1930s, Oris grew rapidly and became a major player in the watch industry. They began producing watches for pilots, divers and sportsmen, and soon gained a reputation for quality and reliability.

In the 1960s, the watch industry faced challenges with the rise of quartz watches. However, Oris decided to stick to their tradition of mechanical watches and managed to survive by focusing on the production of diving watches.

In the following decades, Oris continued to produce and develop innovative watches. Among other things, they launched watches with built-in compasses, altimeters and chronographs. Known for its rugged construction and reliability, the brand became increasingly popular with watch enthusiasts around the world.

In 1982, Oris was acquired by a group of private investors and became an independent company. This allowed them to chart their own course and stay true to their core values of high-quality mechanical watches.

Today, Oris is known for its ecological initiatives and commitment to charitable work. They have partnered with various organizations to promote ocean health and have released watches that support this commitment.
